Fibrositis

Fibrositis also known as Fibromyalgia or myofacial pain syndrome is a disease related to muscles, joints in the bones, and connective tissues of tendons. In this disease, severe pain and stiffness of the muscles is observed. In some cases, tenderness is also noticed due to Fibrositis and is considered to be a chronic disease. This disease causes sleeplessness and restlessness, and a fatigued feeling in the muscles. Tension, anxiety, depression, bowel functioning problems, and tiredness are some common symptoms of this disease.

Facts and reasons for Fibrositis: The actual reasons for Fibrositis are still unknown as it is not caused due to breakage of muscle tissue or inflammation of the tissues, unlike other muscle related diseases like arthritis and rheumatoid which damage the internal organs.

This disease is harmless in the sense that it does not cause a deformity in the body. It does not result in any permanent damage to the muscles nor does it damage the internal organs of the body. But the stimulus due to which a patient experiences pain has not been discovered so far.

Fibrositis Disease And Women

Fibrositis disease starts with an infection and the patient feels lazy and looks tired even after taking rest. Studies show that Fibrositis increases the level of a chemical signal of nerves, known as substance P. This is also accompanied by the abnormal growth of nerves in the spinal fluid present in the Fibrositis patients. These two factors have a combined effect on the chemical serotonin, which is produced in the nerves of the brain, thus making the central nervous system highly sensitive. This is the reason Fibrositis results in sleeplessness. The restless sleep results in a problem called non-REM (non-Rapid-Eye-Movement) due to fatigue and tiredness.

Fibrositis is mainly caused in women of the age range between 35 to 55 years but may also affect men and children too. It may affect a certain body area or may cause pain in whole body. However, in women it makes the whole body painful while in men, it usually affects a particular area like neck and shoulder areas. It is caused individually but may accompany other diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus.
